Gettin' ready for Dragon*Con '07

Dragon*Con '07 is just a few short weeks away. I CAN NOT WAIT!! I've been busting my butt trying finish up a few costumes that I'm hoping to bring to D*C. I'm working on a Boushh costume. For those unfamiliar with who Boushh is, it is actually Princess Leia's bounty hunter disguise from Return of the Jedi. It's in the scene where she is disguised as an alien bounty hunter, and infiltrates Jabba the Hutts palace with Chewbacca in tow as her "prisoner". Anywhooooo......that's one of the costumes I'm working on. And I tell ya one thing......if it does get done, it'll be done by the skin of my teeth. A friend of mine is helping me because I'm am clueless on how to construct something so elaborate. She works at Netherworld Haunted House in Norcross and that takes a lot of her time up. So I have to work around her schedule. Aaaaahhhhhh! I'm getting nervous and anxious about getting this thing done. I really, really want to get it finished before D*C!!

Another costume I'm working on is a Rebel Fleet Trooper. I ordered a lot of the pieces needed from online military surplus stores. I needed: 1 BDU jacket- black, 1 pair BDU pants- grey, and 2 (yes, two) work shirts- light blue. I had to remove the collar and the sleeves of the BDU jacket to make it into a vest. Apparently they don't make these already in vest form. So I did that, and I had to hem the sleeves and collar to give it a finished look. I've never really was good at sewing, so I tried the hem tape method. It worked pretty good, but I got a few puckers in the fabric here and there. But overall it looks ok. Once I have it on with the shirt, I don't think they'll be that noticable.

I'm also waiting for some black boots to come in that I ordered on eBay. I just hope they fit ok. Bad fitting shoes at a con is noooooo good. :( The boots are supposed to go with my RFT costume. And I also bought a Rebel Blaster from Walmart. Right now it's orange and blue. I have to prime it and paint it black and silver so it won't look like a toy. LOL! So I guess overall my costume is coming along pretty well. But again, I'm really looking to get that Boushh costume done. OMG.......I just remembered. I need to make the rifle that goes with it or at least the thermal detonator. GOOD GRIEF!!!! I need more time! I need more time!!! AAAAAAHHH!!!
